Human Resources Assistant

Responsible for maintaining all files relating to the HR department, including payroll, benefits, applicant and computer data bases. Assists all members of HR Team in all areas of Human Resources functions by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists applicants with online application process.  Answers basic questions of applicants to include open positions, status of application, and status of open positions.  Distributes information as needed and requested by the HR Team.

Assists in the filing of reports of accidents and injuries at the resort.

Opening and sorting of mail and organizing mailings from the HR Office.

Answers phone and directs calls accordingly, answering questions of callers whenever necessary.

Assists in the production and distribution of employee identification cards, maintaining data base and taking employee photos.  This includes deactivating employee identification cards at termination of employment.

Maintains all filing systems and policy tracking systems in cooperation with the HR Team, following up with employees and managers as necessary to ensure completion of files.

Updates computer and paper employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.

Supports the HR Team at events (job fairs, wellness fairs and open enrollment) as needed.

Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.

Assist the HR Team in benefit paperwork filing, as needed.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.

Education and/or Experience                                                

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                                            

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                  

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                                      

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                            

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Payroll systems; Microsoft Office Suite of Products.

Other Skills and Abilities                                          

Must have very strong attention to detail and organizational skills for both the filing systems as well as the data entry that this position is responsible for.

Must have helpful and pleasant demeanor, especially during periods of high volume.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Resort Conditions This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
