About the Organization It is an exciting time at the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) as we continue to undertake our mission of providing good, nutritious food today and food to enable brighter futures. On an annual basis CAFB distributes about 40 million meals worth of food through a network of hundreds of partners across the DMV. We know that creating long term solutions to food security requires more than meals. It requires education, training, and collaboration across the public, private and social service ecosystems. We are seeking people with strong ideas and a passion to come together to address the complex interrelated issues of food security, poverty, and equity. We are expanding in multiple ways: providing food for today and addressing the root causes of hunger by partnering with organizations that provide critical services like job training programs, health care and education. Food has the power to transform lives and move everyone forward. Find out how on our website at capitalareafoodbank.org. Let us discuss how food is at the center of everyone's healthy life!

Description

Do you feel strongly that every person, in every community, deserves access to good, healthy food?

Do you live and breathe email marketing strategy, pixels, remarketing campaigns, analytics and hashtags?

Would you fit right in with the team that pioneered what the Washington Post calls “The Technology that Could End the War on Hunger”?

At the Capital Area Food Bank, we provide food to 530,000 people per year—12% of people living in this area.  We’re the Washington metro area’s largest hunger and nutrition non-profit, and if you want to lead the way driving online impact and awareness for a mission that impacts thousands of lives each day, we’re ready for you to join our team.

Your Mission:

  • Envision and Teach. Design and oversee multichannel digital strategy and get coworkers on board
  • Own and maximize CAFB’s website.  Every person who visits capitalareafoodbank.org should have the opportunity connect emotionally to the problem of hunger and easily find a way to join our movement to end it.
  • Drive the crowd our way. We’ve built the tool—CAFB’s new crowdfunding platform—now it’s up to you to improve usability and get as many supporters as possible to donate through it.
  • Make a social splash. Grab attention on social media through provocative, informed posts about the incidence of hunger in every neighborhood. Build up CAFB’s following on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and YouTube.
  • Bring good things to life. Channel our news, events, and initiatives into image-rich blogs and emails working with our in-house graphic artist and on-staff copy writers.
  • Be intercultural. Build CAFB’s social media following on new Spanish-language accounts for Twitter and Facebook, with the help of Spanish speaking team members.
  • Weave our internal web. Work with the IT and Development departments to maximize the CAFB’s intranet for internal communications, and the CAFB’s programmatic and financial CRMs to capitalize on institutional knowledge across all departments.
  • Keep us ahead of the game. The CAFB is a Next Generation Food Bank. Help us inspire, dazzle, and above all, engage the public using the most impressive new applications of social media, fundraising and e-marketing platforms.

And like your other CAFB team members, you will:

  • Manage budgets and timelines for all projects
  • Reconcile online media financials with Accounting.
  • Contribute at team meetings and CAFB-wide events
  • Give feedback (early and often!) and seek the same for yourself

We Bring to the Table:

  • A dynamic, high energy culture built around Trust, Excellence, Accountability, and Mission for a cause where you can make a tangible difference
  • Some of the best colleagues in the business
  • Generous benefits, including health coverage from day one, 403b, and an employer contribution to SEP-IRA
  • Paid vacation

Position Requirements

You Bring to the Table:

  • A teacher’s mindset: you will engage your co-workers to broaden the reach of the CAFB across social media, and you will teach the PR team how to get coverage by the right reporters by connecting with them online
  • A graphic eye: experience leveraging maps, graphics, video and photo multimedia in innovative web settings. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus.
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing responsive content management systems (preferably Wordpress or Drupal), including comfort writing HTML/CSS and integrating embeddable content.
  • 3-5 years executing email marketing campaigns that have led to event attendance and funds raised, informed by A/B or other test approaches.
  • Comfortable administering multichannel marketing/fundraising systems such as Blackbaud’s NetCommunity or Luminate and financial CRMs like Raiser’s Edge, Convio, or Salesforce.
  • Success in list segmentation, with strategy around merge/purge and bounce backs. Experience applying web analytics to determine online strategy of the organization in which you’ve worked. You love sharing findings on traffic info for web landing pages and social media, and do it often!
  • A proven track record negotiating and executing RFPs, SOWs and third-party vendor agreements.
  • Success with paid social media campaigns (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn) and paid keyword/display/remarketing campaigns (e.g. Google or DoubleClick).
