Do you have experience coaching and developing teams, strategic planning and ensuring quality services are provided? If so, Opportunity Village is seeking a proven leader for the Director of Program Services position to manage a dynamic team responsible for community-based services for individuals with developmental disabilities within the greater Las Vegas area.

 

The ideal candidate for this position will share OV’s mission and bring a variety of attributes to OV including respect, credibility and clout throughout the developmental disabilities community (service and policy). A strong history of professional relationship building is a must. We seek a person with proven leadership in human services, health care and/or program management.

 

The Director of Program Services is responsible for providing the leadership and supervision to the staff that provide therapeutic day training, vocational assessment and supported employment services to people with intellectual and related disabilities. This role supervises the operation of: Project Enable, PRIDE, Fine & Performing Arts and the Community Outreach Program. The incumbent is responsible for the health and safety of all individuals served while involved with OV program activities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties for this position will include, but are not limited to: overseeing services provided to individuals with complex behavior support needs, crisis response, behavior management and staff training. This incumbent will also seek out new business opportunities in long term care and related fields. Creating and maintaining close relationships with families, guardians, regulatory agencies, funders and the community. Developing program budgets and supervising the management of expenses within budgets.

Position Requirements

Knowledge of:

  • Professional and ethical guidelines for treatment of staff

  • Federal, state and county programs, laws and regulations

  • Acquiring and managing grants

  • Program evaluation and quality assurance measures and strategies

  • Instructional techniques and methodologies used to deliver services to persons with developmental disabilities and related conditions

  • Business strategies sufficient to recommend, evaluate, and monitor a budget

  • Case management which ensures that treatment requirements for clients are met on a timely basis

  • Measurement principles sufficient to develop valid, reliable measure of client needs

  • Basic health and safety principles and requirements which meet the safety needs of our clients

  • Theories, practices and methods of providing crisis response

  • Developmental disability service delivery models, practices, trends, issues and laws in developmental disability administration

 

Skills:

Thorough understanding of the principles that guide the provision of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families.

Professional experience in developmental disabilities program services and supervision of professional staff is required.

 

Abilities:

Communicate effectively to ensure a common understanding of programming needs and methodologies.

The ability to provide visionary leadership and make critical decisions.

Support and lead competent, high performing staff.

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field. In lieu of a degree incumbent must demonstrate ongoing professional development activities in the field.

  • Minimum ten years of leadership experience related to health or human services for people with developmental disabilities.

  • Current CPR and CPI certifications must be maintained as a condition of employment

  • This position will require travel to all OV sites; incumbent must be flexible as work schedule may vary.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Educational Psychology or an Allied Health Profession, Health Services or related field.

  • Experience working with state wide developmental disabilities services and programs.
