Summary:  Responsible for directing and leading the overall mortgage division for the Bank. This includes overall direction and leadership of the sales team within mortgage. In working with the president, Madison market, provides the strategic direction and leadership to the mortgage sales manager and operations manager to ensure corporate and divisional goals are met. Responsible for working with the mortgage management team to ensure mortgage loan production meets established profitability objectives while assuring the production meets quality standards and compliance guidelines. Responsible for ensuring the timely completion of required training applicable for personnel inside of the mortgage division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establishes strategic mortgage plans to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
  • Direct and lead the Mortgage Sales team to assure origination activities and volumes of secondary market and in-house loans meet the strategic direction and targets of the company and are within compliant and company guidelines.
  • Assure an origination product set, guideline and procedures exist, are formalized and adherence is maintained.
  • Develop and implement marketing programs/procedures (in conjunction with Marketing) to maximize mortgage loan production volume including secondary market and in-house products.
  • Spearhead the activities and concepts for internal and external referral sources/partners to meet production goals.
  • Assure product parameters, guidelines and procedures are in place and formalized within the division, the company and adherence to the program is maintained.
  • Work in conjunction with Mortgage Operations to assure volumes are adequately managed to maintain appropriate quality and timeframe levels to meet customer and lender expectations as well as investor timeframes.
  • Assure the processing and closing accuracy is maintained within acceptable levels.
  • Stay abreast of compliance changes, certifications and regulations to assure the Mortgage Division is compliant.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the real estate market, as well as the changing rules and regulations pertaining to both private and government-insured mortgages.
  • Plans and conducts market research to identify opportunities for increased sales.
  • Works with employee responsible for Mortgage Operations to assure controls, guidelines, documentation and procedures are in place for secondary market pricing, pipeline and expirations.
  • Assure adequate coordination and controls exist between investors and mortgage operations personnel for locks, relocks and extensions, negotiations as necessary to ensure timely closings.
  • Ensure through each management channel that mortgage rates are set and published on a daily basis to referral sources both internal and external.
  • Develops and executes mortgage programs to achieve stated objectives regarding revenue, profitability, and market share.
  • Recruits new talent
  • Analyses new market opportunities
  • Negotiates contract terms with outside agencies and suppliers.
  • Analyzes mortgage programs and adjusts strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness.
  • Plans, promotes, and executes sales meetings and community and goodwill events.
  • Helps establish and maintain consistent corporate image throughout product lines, promotional materials, and events.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
