PLANT OPERATOR I KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY: Basic mechanical aptitude. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and equipment; and to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved, written or oral instructions. Make arithmetical calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. Considerable physical strength and stamina. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school graduate or trade school graduate; or equivalent training. Vocational or high school shop courses; or equivalent on-the-job training desirable. No experience required. SPECIAL PROVISION: Must have a Class I Connecticut State Driver’s License. Must be able to obtain a Connecticut D.E.P. Class I Operator’s Certificate within two years of the date of appointment. PLANT OPERATOR II KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY General knowledge of wastewater plus the ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks. Ability to follow detailed and reasonably complicated instructions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, and/or diagrammatic form, make arithmetical calculations, involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, and specifications; including layouts, blueprints, and schematics. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public. Must be in good physical condition. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school or trade school graduate; or equivalent training. Shop courses desirable. Not less than two (2) years of employment in a wastewater treatment facility. SPECIAL PROVISION Must have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with an N endorsement; must possess a Connecticut D.E.P. Class II Operator’s Certificate within three years of the date of appointment. |
