Job Summary

Responsible for developing and executing a strategy for connecting and engaging Academy members.  Leadership responsibilities for bringing new and innovative approaches to events and processes for both Membership and Awards.  Oversee all administrative needs, communications, and programming related to members of and membership in the Academy.  Oversee awards activities, including special voting process, balloting, and awards ceremonies

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration of the membership program for 7000+ members in 37  countries (dues, records, balloting)
  • Leads and supports innovations in the areas of reduction  of low value administrative processes and automation of processes and procedures to better serve the members
  • Responsible for the analytics needed to drive membership engagement, and manage member communications efforts including members-only section of Oscars.org
  • Manage the Academy’s 17 membership branches including the annual new member selection process, and review of Awards rules and membership criteria
  • Facilitates member diversity efforts by insuring that nominating committees are made aware of diverse talent that meets membership criteria
  • Coordinate and host the New Member Reception.  Develop and manage all members’ events such as mixers and branch receptions insuring that events are fresh and innovative best serving the members and the Academy overall
  • Oversee member events, committees, and member communications in New York and London satellite offices ensuring that each touch point creates value for the member
  • Provides ROI data regarding all member events to CEO; i.e. costs vs. member attendance
  • Supervise the design and production of print materials related to the Academy Awards and Governors Awards ensuring that the materials reflect the Academy’s standards (invitations, tickets, ticket packet)
  • Responsible for the ticketing, seating, and arrivals process for the Governors Awards, Nominees Luncheon, Academy Awards and the Governors Ball.  Develop a team which has a clear sense of how to work with VIPs under challenging circumstances
  • Oversee all special awards voting categories by developing a deep understanding of the award rules and processes and guiding awards managers and awards staff. (Foreign Language, Shorts, Animation, Makeup, Documentary, Visual Effects, and Music)
  • Act as Academy coordinator for the Nominees Luncheon and the Governors Ball working closely with the director of special events to provide unique insight about participating members and nominees
  • Outline and track the Academy Awards calendar
  • Assist in Academy Awards overall administration
  • Lead and supervise the membership and awards team
  • Oversee the Sci-Tech Awards
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters or higher degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in non-profit management required.
  • Have a strong track record of leading change and motivating staff
