What We Are Looking For

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our School of Psychology team as a Temporary Curriculum Course Developer.

The School of Psychology is seeking Subject Matter Experts for a 10-week duration, to assist in course development of the following areas. 

  • Forensic Psychology
  • Sports and Motivational Psychology
  • Social Work
  • School Counseling
  • Health Psychology
 
Position Requirements

Essential Duties

  • Organize undergraduate and master’s psychology online courses into 8-week modules that include introductions, content, formative activities, and summative assessments
  • Write learning objectives using Bloom’s taxonomy that support course and program outcomes
  • Locate high quality content, such as video lectures, presentation files, multimedia, web resources, journal articles, etc.
  • Implement templates and standards as provided by the University
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate with Curriculum Development team while meeting project deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in psychology or related field from a regionally accredited institution
  • Disciplinary and pedagogical expertise relevant to one of the following specialization areas:
    • Forensic Psychology
    • Sports and Motivational Psychology
    • Social Work
    • School Counseling
    • Health Psychology
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • 3-5 years of professional and/or research experience in the content area
  • At least two years direct teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level in psychology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain content-specific concepts to non-experts.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in psychology course development
  • Demonstrated mastery of APA style
  • Good organization skills and time management skills; ability to be flexible and solve problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with master course development
  • Prior experience developing or teaching distance courses in higher education

About Teaching at Northcentral University

Northcentral faculty teach one-to-one, faculty-to-student, following a Teaching Through Feedback (TTF) pedagogy (see our Feedback Guide), in which faculty build relationships with each student and teach primarily through their feedback on student work. TTF is Northcentral’s approach to transforming students into professionals and scholars who possess the skills, knowledge, and dispositions identified in their Program Learning Outcomes, graduate, and, as the NCU mission states, “become valuable contributors to their communities and within their professions.” 

Northcentral faculty members are expected to be current in their disciplines and highly dedicated to teaching.

Northcentral is committed to providing all students with direct feedback and personal contact with faculty so that students can meet learning outcomes.

Northcentral educates students year round, as an alternative to traditional semester or quarter systems. Full-time faculty carry loads of 50-60 students. Northcentral students do not take classes in a group; 50-60 students in individual courses is the equivalent of a full teaching load at a land-based university (e.g. 3-4 courses).
