What We Are Looking For

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our School of Business and Technology team as Associate Director, Faculty Support and Development.

The Associate Director of Faculty Support and Development will have primary responsibility for regularly coaching and evaluating faculty. They are self-starters, effective collaborators, and excellent communicators, both verbally and in writing. They are skilled in working with peers in ways that respect peers’ status and accomplishments, yet holds them to standards for work with students and facilitates openness to using feedback to improve work. Additionally, as core faculty, Associate Directors have teaching responsibilities within the School.

*This position is remote/virtual - relocation to Scottsdale, AZ is not required

 
Position Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Faculty Reviews: Regularly review faculty work with students using the process and rubrics outlined in the Faculty Evaluation Form; Ensure faculty review and documentation process is accurate and efficient; Participate in improving the faculty review process and review materials
  • Coaching and Development: Participate in developing and implementing a school specific faculty development  program; Effectively coach faculty on work with students
  • Faculty Support: Engage with core and adjunct faculty regularly via email, meetings, training, and/or coaching sessions; Communicate with and support faculty development using a variety of technologies; Support faculty in learning and implementing effective pedagogical methods (e.g. Teaching through Feedback) and teaching philosophies consistent with School needs
  • Institutional Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues in institutional improvement of teaching and learning through participation in meetings, projects, etc. with others across schools
  • Meetings: Participate in university and school specific meetings, seminars, and training related to job responsibilities; As assigned by the Dean, participate in committees related to academic affairs, curriculum, and assessment
  • School Projects and Tasks: Work collaboratively as a part of the Dean’s administrative team; Assist the Dean or Assistant Dean by investigating and documenting student complaints about faculty and faculty change requests; Assist in investigating student concerns and grade appeals
  • Alignment with External Requirements for Faculty: Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements and criteria relating to faculty
  • Additional Tasks: Carry out other tasks as directed by NCU Senior Leadership, which may include maintaining a minimal teaching load, serving as a substitute for fulltime faculty, and/or assisting in the approval and documentation of all faculty professional development activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Skill in verbal and written communication
  • Emotional Intelligence and interpersonal communication skills in relating to fellow faculty members
  • Ability to handle a diversity of details in order to make informed and responsive decisions on matters that impact faculty and students
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governing body regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to establish short- and long-term academic goals and objectives

Education and Experience

  • Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution with academic qualification in an area aligned with School of Business and Technology Management offerings
  • Online teaching experience required
  • Online faculty teaching evaluation experience required
  • Training and supervision experience desired
  • Proficiency in the use of technology in the delivery of education
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide timely, accurate information on a variety of academically oriented subjects to both internal and external constituents

  • Sit, stand, kneel, walk and reach
  • Be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 20 pounds

  • Write, type and use phone system
