Description

A High Angle Rescue Technician’s main responsibility is to assist the HSE Coordinator in the efficient running of HSE Safety Services during an Industrial Project.  The High Angle Rescue Technician is expected to acquire and maintain a thorough working knowledge of HSE Integrated Health and Safety Policies, HSE Job Procedures as well as applicable government laws and regulations and Industry Recommended Practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  •  Follow all rules and regulations as per the OH&S Code, HSE guidelines, and client specific codes of practice.
  •  Assists the HSE Coordinator with the deployment of HSE personnel and equipment and conducts audits and inspections of personnel and equipment.
  •  Inspect, inventory and document (on HSE rescue equipment inspections logs) High Angle Rescue equipment (according to manufactures instructions) to ensure all equipment is ready to use.  This inspection is to be conducted prior to leaving the station, upon arrival at location, daily (start of each shift) and once the equipment is returned to the Station.
  •  Demonstrate the ability to educate and coach safety watch personnel on all safety watch duties/responsibilities as per HSE policies and procedures in the P & T Manual.
  •  Set up and test communications and alarm systems
  •  Ensure all gas detection and breathing apparatus equipment is inspected prior to use and passes a function test.  Must have the ability to set up and dismantle both breathing air systems and gas detection equipment.
  •  Lead, demonstrate and encourage a positive safety culture, where safety is an integral element to every task.
  •  Must have the ability to effectively work as a team member during rescue situations and critical tasks.  This includes the ability to problem solve, utilizing interpersonal skills while maintaining a level of professionalism at all times.
  •  Follow all HSE policies and procedures as per the P&T Manual

 

 

 
Position Requirements

 Must have completed HSE’s High Angle Rescue Training Course or have an up to date equivalent course

Required Certifications

  •  H2S Alive
  •  PST/CSTS
  •  Standard First Aid/CPR
  •  High Angle Rescue
  • Previous rescue experience would be considered an asset
