Description

 

 

Responds to time sensitive requests from facility and operations staff for support related to:

  • incident reporting and investigation
  • trouble shooting of operational and/or infrastructure events
  • short term operational support to mission critical operations staff

 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  1. Interfaces independently and directly with clients and other stakeholders to identify options and potential solutions for mission critical facilities that are experiencing or have experienced operational issues and determine short-term and long term corrective measures.
  2. Maintains an in-depth engineering design knowledge in at least one of the categories listed below, along with a good working knowledge of related categories.
    1. Critical Mechanical Systems including air handling, water distribution systems, building automation and HVAC control systems, fuel systems and fire protection systems.
    2. Critical Electrical Systems:  Generator, UPS Systems, Batteries, Rotary Batteries, Power Distribution Units, Transformers.
    3. Architectural Design and Peer review
    4. Structural Design and Peer review; failure investigation
    5. Information Technology
  3. Demonstrates expert application of local and national building codes all applicable safety codes and industry standards.
  4. Generates documentation and prepares professional reports.
  5. Expertly and clearly communicates with clients and other team members and other Client support personnel.
 
Travel Requirements Occasional travel may be required.  
Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture and/or Information Technology with a minimum of 20 years’ experience in engineering of Mission Critical Data Centers.   Or 20 years of experience in data center operations. Also open to equipment specialists in specific applications such as generators, UPS systems, control systems, or chillers, etc.  Demonstrated expertise in the data center field is required.

Additional Job Requirements

  1. Must have extensive experience and proficiency in reviewing existing conditions to diagnose facility issues and determine corrective measures
  2. Must be able to produce clear documentation and write professional reports
  3. Ability to respond to work quickly
  4. Must be adequately equipped to work remotely (telecommute)
  5. Ability to travel as necessary

Physical Demands

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  The employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
