Job Title:  Educational Coordinator Assistant

Employment Status: Part-Time

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, uses skills obtained through experience and/or formal training to provide provides a safe learning environment and engage students in academic, recreation, and enrichment activities. May direct the day to day activities of tutors and volunteers. .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides day to day direction of program related activities and may assist in the creation and posting of schedules and lesson plans. Directs the day to day activities of tutors and volunteers in the absence of the Educational Site Coordinator.
  • Works with the Educational Site Coordinator to implement and maintain program operations.
  • Manages standards of behavior for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well being of students.
  • Assists students individually or in groups with homework assignments.
  • Execute daily activities that balance structured with unstructured play.
  • Engage in activities with youth.
  • Helping to maintain daily attendance and snack records.
  • Report observations and incidents (i.e., discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc…) to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with events related to after school programming..
  • Attending regular staff trainings, orientations, and professional development.
  • If applies, following all DHS and CACFP regulations, including student ratios and safety procedures.
  • Daily communication with parents on child’s homework completion, activities, and behavior; helping to disseminate program information to parents.
  • Maintains classroom equipment, work area, student information, and attendance records.
  • Submit supplies request forms in a timely manner for all activities/projects.
  • Following all required dismissal procedures.
  • Maintain currency in educational techniques pertaining to K-12 education.
  • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Educational processes and techniques attributed to age group of assigned functional area.

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office.

Ability to:

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
  • Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Handle stressful situations and provide a high level of customer service in a calm and professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
    • High School Diploma

  • At least 2 years experience in an educational setting and/or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licenses/Certifications Required at Date of Hire:
    • None. Teaching certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

Hours:            Normal business hours.  Some additional hours may be required.

Travel required: local travel

Working Environment:         Climate controlled office environment.
