About the Organization Founded as a preschool in 1953, the Children's Guild has transformed into a national leader, recognized for creating innovative educational, child welfare and behavioral health models that produce positive outcomes for children, youth, and families. Today, the Children's Guild is among the most experienced child serving organizations in the Greater Baltimore/Washington region. Each year, the agency's continuum of care and its 300+ professional staff help thousands of youth and their families achieve resiliency, dignity, and self-sufficiency. We operate therapeutic group homes, a treatment foster care program, and family help center located in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County and Prince George County. We also service students in our nonpublic special education programs in Baltimore City and Prince George's County. The Children's Guild also operates public charter schools located in Anne Arundel and Baltimore City and will open our first DC charter school in September, 2015. TranZed School Culture Assistant


Role Description:  The TranZed School Culture Assistant role supports the creation of a school culture that is consistent with the tenets of Transformation Education.  The role of the TranZed School Culture Assistant is to model through behavior, communication, contextual problem solving approach, interactions, etc. the Transformation Education mindset – the congruency of staff mindsets, the operator’s expressed values and beliefs, the physical environment of the school and its programming.  The TranZed School Culture Assistant works in an identified physical area to model and support the maintenance of a TranZed environment, assuring that organization, operations and procedures are aligned with the Transformation Education philosophy.


Duties include, but are not limited to, supporting the cafeteria management, recess management or hallway management in a manner that reflects a supportive atmosphere.


Qualifications: Therefore the TranZed School Culture Assistant must possess parliamentary understandings of how cultural messages are learned and how to facilitate personal growth through the organization’s Workplace Expectations.  Minimum qualification for the position is 2 or years of experience in one of the following: residential care, community work, recreation, working in a non-traditional setting. Social work, wrap around services or similar unique endeavor. 



The TranZed School Culture Assistant is accountable to Director of School Culture.



KEY RESULT AREA #1 – Developing and Sustaining a Positive School Culture


This KRA is successfully completed when:

a. Maintains a pleasant and positive attitude toward staff and students at all times.

b.Maintains good attendance and punctuality for reporting to work

c. The crew program is supported through a coordinated effort to monitor and provide feedback to the Director of School Culture by the TranZed School Culture Specialist

d. Feedback is provided to the Director of School Culture on student recognition assemblies

e.  School environment is used to message the TranZed culture (offices, cafeteria, hallways, etc.)

f.   The TranZed mindset is modeled consistently



KEY RESULT AREA #2 – School Facilities Duties


This KRA is successfully completed when:

a.       School operational procedures are aligned with the Transformational Educational philosophy by contributing assistance to cafeteria staff, office staff, hallway monitoring, during the “dining experience” with students and during dismissals

b.      Student movements throughout the day are aligned with the school’s expectations

c.       All areas of the environment are safe, clean and healthy and sanitation standards and procedures are enforced

d.      Assist with other duties according to the direction given by the principal. 

KEY RESULT AREA #3 – Supporting School Activities


This KRA is successfully completed when:

a.       Weekly Tuesday folder distributions are supported

b.      Preparation for school events including logistics, ordering of food, and invitations to families and community stakeholders is supported

c.       Social Media outlets to provide regular updates to families and Monarch community is supported

d.      Assist with other duties according to the direction given by the principal.
