Job Title:  Hospitality Representative

Employment Status: Part-Time

Job Summary: Under direct supervision, uses basic knowledge and skills obtained through on-the-job training to provide set up and take down services before and after conferences, seminars and social events at the Arab American National Museum. Specific, detailed instructions and procedures are provided to perform routine, repetitive standardized tasks. Resolves routine questions and problems and refers more complex issues to a higher level. This position requires considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift for room set up and break down. Routine contact with internal and external customers is required to exchange basic information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with supervisor throughout shift to be aware of the work.
  • Set up all meeting rooms to the specifications of the guest. This includes considerable physical activity in transporting awkward and heavy materials such as staging, tables, chairs, dance floors, etc., from storage area to meeting rooms
  • Supply and replenish facility with clean glasses and fresh water.
  • Break down all meeting rooms where meetings have concluded and return to storage closet so the room will be available to be reset for the next function.
  • Maintain established cleaning schedule of meeting rooms and ballrooms so the rooms stay presentable at all times.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Various types of equipment and set up styles used in the meeting rooms. For example: different table types (round, schoolroom, etc.).

Skill in:

  • Providing customer service in an effective, efficient and non-disruptive manner.

Ability to:

  • Lift and move multiple tables and chairs and podiums weighing up to 100 lbs. through a crowded room.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 500 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Provide a high level of customer service.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients and co-workers.
  • Manage multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment with constant interruptions.
 
Position Requirements

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
  • High School Diploma

  • At least one year working experience in hospitality service in the same or similar capacity. Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licenses/Certifications Required at Date of Hire:
    • Drivers license

Working Conditions:

Hours:            Hours vary depending upon events scheduled. Evening and weekend work is frequent.

Travel required: local travel may be required.

Working Environment:         Climate controlled office environment.
