What We Are Looking For NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our Infrastructure team as a Database Administrator (DBA). This position requires a self-motivated team member to support Northcentral University’s SQL Server infrastructure, including managing and administering multiple, high-availability, Microsoft SQL Server clusters, instances, and databases. The candidate should possess strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and general knowledge of Microsoft networking. The candidate should have excellent customer service skills and possess the ability to work independently or as a team.   Position Requirements Core Responsibilities Provides database administration for multiple servers/instances/databases including production, QA, UAT, and development environments. Ensures security, data integrity, performance, reliability, optimization, and quality control. Administers database maintenance plans, SQL Mail, SQL jobs, notifications, and alerts. Maintains effective back-up and disaster recovery procedures; assures back-up quality, performance and availability of mission critical data. Provides performance tuning, including database and database server optimization, baselines, profiler, evaluates queries and execution plans, and recommends schema changes. Administers SQL Server Reporting services. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves complex database and performance issues. Additional Responsibilities Recommends and installs new software releases, updates/patches, and upgrades. Evaluates, analyzes, and recommends new technologies, tools, and methodologies in support of operational objectives. Maintains up to date system documentation and system diagrams, including hardware and system software components. Assists with disaster recovery planning and testing. Attends meetings and briefings related as required.
