Assistant Director of Maintenance 

Description

The Assistant Director of Maintenance (ADOM) will be responsible to the Director of Maintenance for providing oversight and guidance for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to include effective planning, execution, utilization of manpower and billing efficiency. The ADOM is also responsible for providing guidance to maintenance department personnel that will direct them along a path of compliance with regard to procedures contained in the Part 135 Business Jet Access General Maintenance Manual and other company manuals as published. Further, the ADOM will be responsible for assisting in the fostering of an atmosphere of cooperative teamwork intended to build a foundation of trust and integrity within the maintenance department.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Tech utilization assessments
    • Monitor work orders and feedback information to the Supervisor and Lead Technicians regarding hours worked verses hours billed to revenue work orders.
  • Schedule adherence & support
    • Monitor work in progress and feedback information to the Supervisor and Lead Technicians regarding on-time completion. Work with the Supervisor to adjust technician’s schedules and workloads in order to remain on schedule.
  • Performance feedback and correction
    • Monitor the performance of the maintenance department and provide feedback regarding performance trends.  Initiate corrective actions regarding performance improvements when needed.
  • Process guidance reinforcement
    • Learn the BJA processes as outlined in the BJA manual system and provide guidance to the Supervisor, Lead Technicians and Technicians to ensure adherence to the processes as published. Recommend revisions to processes that may be inefficient.
  • Inspection planning briefing (S-MX)
    • Assist the maintenance planner in inspection package development and leveling the workload across the calendar for the various aircraft. 
  • Daily maintenance planning briefing
    • Attend daily “nose wheel” meetings and assess the aircraft for condition and workload.
  • S-MX & U-MX plan execution
    • Provide guidance and recommendations regarding task prioritization, task sequencing and task assignment to the Technicians via the Supervisor and Lead Technicians. Monitor execution of plans and provide recommendations in order to provide for smooth workflow.
  • Interdepartmental support
    • Provide guidance to fellow employees regarding working with other departments. Foster an interdepartmental understanding of the other person’s job in order to maintain good working relationships between team members. 
  • Work Order process guidance
    • Promote standardization of the work order process. Consistency in discrepancy and resolution verbiage and structure. Fostering consistency in the understanding as to which discrepancies should have parts and services requested against them. Ensure adequate information is provided to Supply Chain for effective and efficient parts procurement.   
  • Review vendor comparisons
    • Review work scope quote comparisons as developed by the Maintenance Planner to ensure correct information. Foster fair and accurate comparisons for customer review.
  • Coverage for Resolution of Aircraft Issues
    • Assist in sharing the duty of providing coverage for after-hours maintenance issues that develop, both during the week and on weekends and holidays.
  • Provide guidance working with others
    • Assist the Supervisor and Lead Technicians with conflict resolution between Technicians and Inspection personnel. Foster a team environment.
  • Payroll timesheets & PTO requests
    • Approve Paid Time Off requests (PTO) with input from the Supervisor and correct employee clocking issues and provide time sheets to employees at the end of the pay period.
  • Work Order review
    • Assist with final work order review searching for errors and omissions.
  • Liaison between BJA/offsite vendors
    • Act as a point of contact for projects that have been contracted to other maintenance providers.

 

 
Position Requirements

CERTIFICATES:

Must possess a valid Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.  Inspection Authorization is desirable.

 

EDUCATION:

Possess a 2 year college degree in an aviation maintenance related discipline or a combination of a high school diploma and equivalent work related experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Have 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience as a certificated aircraft technician and 2 to 3 years as a supervisor with responsibility for maintenance project execution and completion. Maintenance experience in a Part 135 operation is highly desirable.

 

Model experience on Gulfstream, Falcon, Challenger, Hawker, or Citation products is highly desirable.     

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The ability to obtain a Dallas Love Field Security Badge is required

Must possess a Valid Drivers License
