Summary: This position acts as a coach/mentor for CSR’s and is the Customer Ambassador for the bank with the overall purpose of providing quality and efficiency to customers who prefer face-to-face interaction with the bank. This position will have a thorough understanding of the customer’s transaction requirements and be able to effectively communicate all available options to them.  They will educate customers about River Valley Banks’ sales and service delivery options and refer the appropriate products and services matching the customer needs.  This position will also refer customers to the appropriate source or channel to address their need. They will also be responsible for the processing the regular transactions, such as receiving and paying out money, and keeping records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions in an efficient, friendly and accurate manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • With a good understanding of bank products/services and the customer’s current relationship, offers information on bank products and services that can benefit the customer and enhance their banking relationship.  (Listens to the customer’s needs and matches those needs to the bank’s products and services resulting in referrals.)
  • Acts as a coach/mentor for CSR’s, assist in CSR variation research and resolution
  • Scheduling of CSR’s, verifies and approves timecards
  • Override authority on some CSR exceptions
  • Maintains vault to policy and procedure guidelines set forth by audit and security. Selling and ordering of money.
  • Assist with monthly/quarterly security checks and cash drawer audits
  • Receives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsement and negotiability, and enters savings transactions into bank records via an on-line terminal.
  • Cashes checks and pays money from savings and checking account upon verification of signatures and customer account balances.  Inspects all checks, bonds, money orders, savings withdrawals, to determine their negotiability.
  • Listens and identifies opportunities for referrals of bank products and services.
  • Receives payments for installment, mortgage and single payment loans, from consumer and commercial customer.  Collects late charges if applicable.
  • Maintains dollar amount in cash drawer in accordance with security policy.
  • Balances accurately in a timely manner with a minimum of transaction and proof corrections or late work and is in compliance with the teller variation policy.
  • Ensures adherence to vault policy and procedure guidelines set forth by audit and security. To include selling and ordering of money.

Other Responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as required or assigned that are in the spirit of this job description and position as necessary for the Bank and the Department to function effectively.

May be expected to fill in at other bank locations based on business/staffing requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient computer knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and advanced keyboarding and ten-key skills.
