GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:  Develop and implement a formal fund development program for Franklinton Center at Bricks (FCAB) and provide primary coordinating support for the program.  Fund development priorities are under the guidance and supervision of the Franklinton Center at Bricks Director and JWM Executive Minister with consultation and advice from the Franklinton Center Board of Trustees and the UCC Director of Philanthropy and Stewardship. This may be considered a remote position.

Franklinton Center at Bricks (FCAB) is called by God to promote social transformation by empowering people through training, education, community development, and direct action.

 

ESSENTIAL DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a member of the Franklinton Center Management Team, participating in and coordinating appropriate programs related to this position.
  • Provides administrative development support that includes reporting, serving as a liaison to accounting, preparation and coordination of all mailings.

  • Provides event leadership and signature event support.

  • Develop, implement and evaluate short-term and long-term faith-based project/program goals and objectives in consultation with the Director FCAB and Director of the UCC Office of Philanthropy and Stewardship, and other key partners as appropriate. Examples of projects include: literacy justice, food justice, leadership development, health justice, voter education, environmental justice, and community development.
  • Provide support for fundraising programs and projects.
    • Coordinate development communication pieces including correspondence. invitations, email, social media, and bulk mailings.
    • Provide leadership, coordination, and support for special events.
    • Produce donor- and prospect-related background materials.
    • Assist the Grants Administrator in assembling proposals with an eye to detail.
    • Coordinate donor and prospect meetings, including scheduling and logistics.
    • Coordinate and manage volunteers for special events.
    • Process all gifts and donor acknowledgments.
  • Manage fundraising database such as Raiser’s Edge Database.
    • Responsible for maintaining and updating database profiles/records with. appropriate coding, notes, and change of personal information.
    • Produce reports on a regular and as-needed basis.

  • Provide general administrative assistance.
    • Maintain files for donor- and prospect-related materials both paper and electronic files.
    • Draft and edit correspondence, reports, and other materials as needed.
  • Support donor engagement, outreach and other functions, in conjunction with the Director.
  • Support the Franklinton Center’s organizational and mission values, and embody those values in the workplace.
  • Develop and maintain professional and courteous relationships with UCC national and conference staff, community and religious partners and other constituents; serve as a positive role model by exemplifying values which are consistent with the United Church of Christ.

 

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, or a combination of academic study and experience.
  • A minimum of four years of demonstrated experience in development or a related  nonprofit area.
  • Knowledge of individual, corporate and foundation prospect research a plus
  • Ability to read and understand funding proposals to individuals, corporations and foundations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proofreading and editing for clarity.
  • Excellent computer skills; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; experience with Raiser’s Edge required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Passion for accuracy and ensuring complete and up-to-date data management
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications, organizational and time-management, and creative problem solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize and carry out tasks independently.
  • Ability to managing multiple, time-sensitive priorities and complex deadlines and timelines.
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team structure.
  • Ability to juggle multiple reporting relationships within a fast moving environment.
  • Ability to be discreet, tactful, and diplomatic when dealing with donors, as well as with materials of a confidential nature.
  • Ability to learn the broader development function to be able to field internal and external questions and serve as a backup.
  • Ability to work occasional night or weekend events.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals on time and handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and ability to thrive in a small shop.
  • Ability to manage volunteers and interns.
