Job Title: Educational Coordinator (Adult ESL Program)

Employment Status: Full-Time

Job Summary: Under general supervision, uses specialized knowledge, along with skills obtained through experience and/or formal training in the education of adults and program management to successfully coordinate a safe, engaging, and effective program. Routine contact with partner agencies is required to obtain, clarify or provide facts and information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assure adherence to the grant contract, including the maintenance of all program data/records.
  • Work with supervisor to manage volunteer placement and maintenance.
  • Oversee the operation of the program, including working with partners and stakeholders.
  • Meet regularly with the staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the program.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the program.
  • Determine need and arrange for professional development.
  • Develop operational policies and practices for the program in cooperation with program staff, including suggesting and implementing program improvements.
  • With the assistance of staff, ensure timely data collection, create reports, and answer all data/information requests.
  • Manage standards of behavior for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well being of students.
  • Plan and execute events, presentations, and other opportunities for students’ success and engagement.
  • Attend regular staff trainings, orientations, and professional development.
  • Ensure regular communication with students on attendance, activities, barriers, and behavior.
  • Work with program staff to distribute newsletters and reports to stakeholders.
  • Send supervisor (and other staff as appropriate) a monthly program update.
  • Inventory supplies and submit supplies request in a timely manner for all activities/projects.
  • Assist supervisor with classroom observations and skill development.
  • Interpret, apply and recommend changes to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Review progress of assignments with senior management.
  • Balance conflicting resource and priority demands.
  • Maintain currency in educational techniques pertaining to Adult education.
  • Operate standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Adult Education, assessments, teaching methodology/best practices.
  • Program and project management.

Skill in:

  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office.

Ability to:

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
  • Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed.
  • Incite enthusiasm and influence, motivate and persuade others to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Required Disciplines:
    • English Language, ESL, TESOL, Education, Early Childhood Education
    • ~and~
  • At least 2 years experience in an educational setting and/or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources. Curriculum development experience required.

Working Conditions:

Hours:   Normal business hours.  Some additional hours may be required.

Travel required: local travel

Working Environment:      Climate controlled office environment during normal business hours.
