What We Are Looking For

NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to become part of our School of Marriage and Family Sciences team as Director, Clinical Training.

The Director of Clinical Training works in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Field Placements to provide a comprehensive and high quality clinical training program for SMFS students.  The Director of Clinical Training’s primary responsibility is working directly with students, faculty, and supervisors involved in the practicum and internship phases of the program. The Director will work with the Director of Curriculum to ensure students are adequately prepared to succeed in the clinical training program and to ensure that the clinical training meets both programmatic and local requirements. The Director also oversees the clinical readiness process for the MFT programs.

 
Position Requirements

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists the MFT Program Directors in administration of MFT clinical training programs at NCU
  • Maintain professional communication with local sites and supervisors
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for all levels of clinical work
  • Responds to student questions and concerns about clinical work requirements
  • Oversee the Clinical Readiness Evaluations
  • Maintain program level Clinical Manuals
  • Serve as a director and resource for faculty who provide individual and group supervision
  • Works with doctoral students to complete the pre-internship process and internship plans
  • Reviews syllabi for all clinical experience requirement courses and ensures compliance with AAMFT standards for clinical experience, supervision, etc
  • Recruits new faculty members to serve as practicum/internship supervisors as needed per program growth
  • Participate in Admin Team meetings projects as needed
  • Conduct and participate in applicant interviews and student case presentations as needed
  • Teach SMFS course(s) as needed including but not limited to practicum and internship groups
  • Maintains professional involvement through state, regional, and national associations
  • Promote a graduate culture of scholarship, teaching, service, and practice
  • Complete all required professional development activities as defined in the Faculty Handbook
  • Complete all other tasks and/or projects as assigned by the Dean or NCU administrators

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Skill in verbal and written communication
  • Skill in operating equipment, such as personal computer, fax, copier, phone system
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to use and facilitate online communication using email and/or other technology-based communication media
  • Ability to solve complex problems and create win-win situations
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent computer literacy skills

Education and Experience

  • Doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy or a closely related profession from a regionally accredited institution; COAMFTE accreditation is preferred
  • Clinically active and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist required
  • AAMFT Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor required
  • Experience as a clinical director or in facilitating clinical placements preferred
  • Excellent networking and professional communication skills required
  • Experience with conducting and publishing research in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related profession 
  • Experience in graduate level coursework and clinical training and administration preferred
  • Experience with online education preferred
  • Curriculum development experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide timely, accurate information on a variety of academically oriented subjects to both internal and external constituents
  • All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications

  • Sit, stand, kneel, walk and reach
  • Be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 20 pounds

  • Write, type and use phone system
