POSITION SUMMARY: As the Director of Philanthropy, you will be at the forefront of leading fundraising initiatives crucial to CIRI's growth and success. Your primary focus will encompass individual and foundation giving, event coordination, and elevating CIRI's visibility throughout the state of Connecticut. Overseeing a dedicated team that includes a Development Coordinator and a contracted Grant Writer, you will play a vital role in orchestrating our efforts to raise $1.2 million annually. This role is a full-time, exempt position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the financial sustainability and continued impact of CIRI.
SALARY: $80,000 - $85,000

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- In collaboration with the President & CEO and Development Committee, create and implement a strategic fundraising plan, which includes major gifts, planned giving, multi-year pledges, corporate sponsorships and foundation grants.
- Maintain, identify and build relationships with donors, including individuals, corporations and foundations. Focus on advancing donor relations in Fairfield County and the Greater Hartford Region.
- Support CIRI’s grant writer with the planning, writing, and reviewing of foundation grant submissions.
- Collaborate on strategic planning related to fundraising, donor development, agency recognition, special events. CIRI currently hosts three events annually – Spring Benefit Concert, World Refugee Day Celebration, Fall Gala.
- Develop and provide leadership to annual giving programs, campaigns, direct mail, matching gifts, monthly giving, and digital fundraising..
- Interface with the President & CEO and Board of Directors with respect to individual fundraising efforts, Foundation grants, CIRI events, and Board giving.
- Maintain planning and tracking documentation to improve CIRI’s internal processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's Degree in communications, nonprofit development, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5-7 years experience in fundraising with a proven track record of success.
- Minimum of 3 years in a leadership position.
- Previous experience working with a Board of Directors and individual donors.
- Exceptional communication skills, including ability to articulate CIRI’s mission, with proven ability to write effectively and speak persuasively.
- Strong attention to details; organized and systematic in follow-through with contacts, donors, etc.
- Independent, proactive, and responsive. Able to work easily in a fast-paced environment in which ongoing commitments are managed alongside unanticipated events.
- Energetic, positive outlook, collaborative and compassionate; commitment to CIRI’s mission.
- Ability to manage a team to successfully achieve its goals as well as provide each team member with professional development guidance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and development platforms.
