TYPE OF RIG: 6th Generation Drillship
LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland, Canada
JOB SUMMARY: Rig Electrician is responsible for the safe operation, installation, maintenance, testing and fault finding of all electrical equipment and systems on board.
PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journeyman Electrician Certification
- Hazardous Area EX Training or Equivalent
- Previous Offshore Experience as Rig Electrician on a similar installation
- Previous High Voltage and Low Voltage Experience
- Offshore Certification considered an asset: Basic Survival Training, Regulatory Awareness, H2S Alive, WHMIS 2015, Standard First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Regulatory Awareness, Well Control Level 1, CPR, Gas Detection
- Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams. Able to proficiently use electrical testing meters and equipment. Able to operate software application as applicable to position.
- Fluent in English, Including Reading and Writing
- Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Individually responsible for the safe operation installation, maintenance testing and fault finding of all electrical equipment and systems onboard.
- Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
- Perform electrical and electronic equipment and components testing
- Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
- Maintain inventory of stored material
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
- Interpret electrical code specifications
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
- Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
- Perform other duties as assigned.
