REPORTS TO: Electrical Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Technical

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Ad Hoc/Temporary

START DATE: July 30th 2024

LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT: 4 Weeks

TYPE OF RIG: 6th Generation Drillship

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

 

JOB SUMMARY: Rig Electrician is responsible for the safe operation, installation, maintenance, testing and fault finding of all electrical equipment and systems on board.

 

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyman Electrician Certification
  • Hazardous Area EX Training or Equivalent
  • Previous Offshore Experience as Rig Electrician on a similar installation
  • Previous High Voltage and Low Voltage Experience
  • Offshore Certification considered an asset: Basic Survival Training, Regulatory Awareness, H2S Alive, WHMIS 2015, Standard First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Regulatory Awareness, Well Control Level 1, CPR, Gas Detection
  • Read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and diagrams. Able to proficiently use electrical testing meters and equipment. Able to operate software application as applicable to position.
  • Fluent in English, Including Reading and Writing
  • Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Individually responsible for the safe operation installation, maintenance testing and fault finding of all electrical equipment and systems onboard.
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
  • Perform electrical and electronic equipment and components testing
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Maintain inventory of stored material
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Interpret electrical code specifications
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • Install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
