Community First Health Centers is growing and we are looking for an exceptional Behavioral Health Assistant to join our team! This is a part time opportunity available within our medical clinic setting under the direction of our Behavioral Health Program Manager. The ideal candidate for this role will be dedicated, detailed and a team player. Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Program Manager, you’ll provide initial and subsequent assistance to patients seeking care by performing several clerical functions including collecting patient information, updates required for entry and care, identification, financial statistics and personal information. This position will be housed out of our New Haven medical facility located at 58144 Gratiot Avenue but flexibility is required to travel to our other locations (Port Huron or Algonac) as needed/directed. Daily responsibilities of our Behavioral Health Assistant may include:
- Answer telephone calls politely and professionally, screen and forward appropriately
- Greet clients and assist with any questions/concerns
- Ability to build rapport with client(s), paying attention to detail and providing excellent customer service through positive, professional interaction; inform of behavioral health services available
- Schedule/update client appointments correctly paying close attention to detail
- Assist patient(s) at check in/out, collection of copay(s), receipt(s) and with billing or insurance issues if one should arise
- Accurately enter and update any new information into patients’ account utilizing computer system including demographic and insurance information
- Verification of client identity with driver’s license/valid identification; verification of client insurance per Agency policy and procedure and obtain insurance authorization(s) as needed
- Scan all necessary forms into patients’ electronic health record paying close attention to detail for accuracy
- Draft, process and mail letters/information to patients as needed/directed
- Assist with program review(s) and/or audit(s) as needed/directed
- Perform advocacy for patient(s) and at times be an advocate for broader social cause(s)
- Provide education on issues of behavioral health to service recipient(s), families, members of the community and/or staff
- Assist in the development, integration and integrity of services into the clinical delivery model of the Agency, our communities and partnering hospital(s)
- Participates in quality improvement activities/initiatives as required
- Attend meetings, seminars, workshops and/or conferences, as needed for professional development and/or on behalf of Community First Health Centers
- Other duties as assigned
This is a part time opportunity; up to 24 hours per week. Hours will be gained predominately 830a-5pm Monday thru Friday but some flexibility is needed based on business demands.
