Cost Accounting Supervisor 

Description Maintain the standard costing system in PLEX
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of standards
• Ensure correct product setup and configuration within the PLEX system.
• Develop, document, implement and modify standard operating procedures and desktop work instruction to improve efficiency.
• Responsibility for cost and inventory projects and tasks as needed.
• Ensure month end COGS calculations and related journal entries are prepared accurately and timely.
• Ensure proper accounting for COGS and inventory transactions in the general ledger.
• Coordinate the quarterly excess and obsolete review of direct and indirect inventories.
• Prepare management reports and account reconciliation for US and Mexico operations in accordance with reporting deadlines established.
• Prepare monthly analysis of inventory sub-ledger and assigned general ledger accounts.
• Perform trends and variance analysis on inventory, inventory obsolescence, write-offs, etc.
• Lead and coordinate the annual update of standard costs for US and Mexico in connection with the annual budget preparation.
• Lead and coordinate the finance activities related to annual physical inventories.
• Manage audit requests related to the annual financial statement audit and the quarterly bank audits.
• Provide review of inventory business processes and ways to improve process and reporting systems.
• Supervise three cost accounting analysts providing daily guidance and direction of activities including development assessments.
• Review and maintain internal controls as they relate to product costing and inventory, system processing, interfaces and balance to the general ledger.
 
Position Requirements REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance
• Minimum Experience Required:
o 8-10 years experience in either inventory or cost analysis,
o 2-4 years supervisory experience.
• Preferred Level:
o At least 5-8 years in a high transactional environment.
o 5-6 years Cost/Inventory Accounting
o 3-5 years supervising and working with senior management teams

PREFERRED SKILLS:
• Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
• Possess strong technology abilities, including Microsoft Excel and database applications
• Good organizational and communication skills
