Molding and Forming Process Advanced Development Technician 

Description Conduct experimental molding and extrusion trials. Operate Std Injection Molder, Co-Injection Molder, Extrusion, Compression Molder, and Extrusion Deposit Compression Molder. Troubleshooting of molding/extrusion equip, gravimetric feeders, etc. Startup, changeover, and operate extrusion equipment. Produce the following materials: sheet goods, bilaminate constructions (skin/ XLPP foam, skin/PU foam, skin/scrim, skin/nonwovens, etc.), slush powder, pellets for injection molding. Accurately blend raw materials for compounding, then compound materials. Generate rheological data. Conduct screw stack changes for twin screw extruder. Preventative maintenance on extrusion dies, 3 injection molding machines, 1100T vertical press, and extrusion equipment. Mold installation and utility hook-up for injection/compression molds in vertical & horizontal machines. Forklift, crane and aerial work platform operation. Hazardous material handling. Conduct annual equipment lockout review. Material approval via. MSDS and CMAP process. Develop and maintain material database. Coordinate meetings with engineers/managers to prioritize trials. Plumbing for hydraulic, cooling water, and pneumatics. Identify Low Material Threshold Limit based upon planned trials and maintain material inventory above threshold. Maintain Work Place Organization of Molding Development Lab

 
Position Requirements Required:
10 years experience in injection molding, compression molding, plastic extrusion & associated auxiliary equipment
10 yrs troubleshooting, injection molders, compression molders, plastic extruders, side stuffers, gravimetric feeders, etc
5 years of hands on extrusion experience, 2 years of material compound preparation experience
Certified Forklift Operator: Gas Sit-Down Rider and Electric Sit-Down Rider
OSHA Certified Crane Operator
Certification on: Boom Type, Self Propelled Type, & Manually Propelled Aerial Platforms
Fully trained in lockout of heavy machinery
Basic pipefitting capability for hydraulic, water, pneumatic lines
High skill level in Microsoft excel
Tool and Die training
Good written and oral skills
Strong organization/decision making skills
Ability to work independently
Disciplined, self starter
Ability to perform some tasks that may be physically demanding

Preferred:
Hazmat Training
Experience with generating MSDS and obtaining CMAP approval
Meeting coordination & facilitation skills
