Share Email Opening Title Cost Planning Analyst  Description The cost modeling analyst is responsible for the development and ownership of accurate and consistent product cost models, engaging in various activities with cross functional teams that will utilize material cost knowledge to drive cost improvement and improve day to day procurement and engineering practices by infusing knowledge and processes into mainstream negotiation, commodity planning and product development activities. Performing financial analysis using an understanding of the economic impact of changes to product design specification, manufacturing process and supply chain costs. Role will provide expertise on specific commodity groups, including the various processes for manufacturing parts, using their strong understanding of cost structures of the specific component industries in the relevant producing regions and a strong working knowledge of various cost accounting methodologies. In addition this role will provide commodity cost planning information to pre-production program teams using commodity market economics. This is a highly visible position that drives organizational development of a cost knowledge base that will: enable Global Sourcing; lead Target Cost setting; ensure best at product launch; result in cost leadership and sustained competitive advantage   Position Requirements Required Qualifications: Min. 4 yrs experience as a MFG/Cost Engineer or Cost Estimator for a manufacturing company Must have familiarity with manufacturing and assembly processes used to produce component parts and assemblies. Experience with manufacturing cost analysis and product costing methodologies Strong proficiency in MS office productivity and cost estimating software Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong initiative and problem solving skills (including statistical Experience presenting financial information to management and working cross functionally Required Education: Bachelors' degree in Engineering, Finance or Accounting Desired Qualifications: Automotive Industry Experience Drawing comprehension and applied engineering principles Experience with product costing and the use of manufacturing cost knowledge to prepare a quotation.
