We are seeking a System/Desktop Engineer to join our expanding business.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide IT support for day-to-day operations, infrastructure, and configuration management in support of Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
  • Provide infrastructure and configuration support for client and server-based applications.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues
  • Image desktop, laptops and virtual machines (and maintain the image)
  • Desktop security (Manage desktop/laptop/tablet anti-virus and malware detection, analysis, and remediation)
  • Research desktop technology selection
  • Guide desktop engineering standards
  • Provide Tier II support
  • Assist senior level staff members with advanced maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Performing moderate to complex system administration tasks across supported technology areas
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Monitoring and tuning system performance, maintaining service documentation and performing security patching
  • Detailed knowledge of end user computing environments including Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OSX and their supporting infrastructure components – Active Directory, group policy creation and maintenance
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Support desktop mangament helpdesk tickets
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment
 
Position Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of Windows, Linux and Network experience. Cloud experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work at the Sterling, VA location for on-site work.
  • Understanding of Public Key Infrastructure to include: the use of a key management solution; the ability to create and manage certificate trust stores; the ability to work with certificate authorities and generate SSL/TLS certificate requests; ability to generate key pairs and manage/maintain HSM’s remotely.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with Business Owners.
  • Experience developing visualizations and presentations for leadership.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Team oriented individual who can work with many layers and sizes of groups and or departments, as well as a diverse group of individuals
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present a polished, professional, and diplomatic image to clients
  • Willingness to “work until the job is done” – and a commitment to the mission
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Proficient in windows-based software including Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project, and Visio.

Clearance Requirement US Citizenship required. Active DHS Public Trust preferred. Ability to obtain clearance required.
