Your role in helping us shape the future:

As a Senior Tax Accountant for U.S. News and World Report and subsidiaries, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations and optimizing the organization's tax position. You will work with the tax manager on various aspects of tax accounting, including preparation, analysis, and submission of tax returns. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax laws, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a finance team.

 

Are you up to the challenge?

  • Tax Compliance:

    • Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.

    • Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.

  • Financial Analysis:

    • Analyze financial data to identify areas of potential tax risk or opportunity.

    • Work closely with other finance team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for tax purposes.

  • Documentation and Recordkeeping:

    • Maintain organized and detailed tax records to support filings and audits.

    • Prepare and maintain documentation for tax credits, deductions, and incentives.

  • Tax Planning:

    • Collaborate with finance and business units to develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company's overall tax position.

    • Provide guidance on potential tax implications of business decisions and transactions.

  • Audit Support:

    • Assist in the preparation of documentation and responses for tax audits.

    • Work closely with external auditors to provide necessary information for financial audits.

 
Position Requirements

You should definitely have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is preferred.

  • Proven experience as a tax accountant in a corporate setting.

  • Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
