SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of the Pharmacist-In-Charge the Pharmacy Clerk supports the workflow of the pharmacy by greeting patients, accurately operating the Point of Sale (POS) system, stocking supplies, using Pharmacy computer system to provide excellent patient care, and packaging prescriptions for shipping to patients.

 

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and assists walk-in customers.
  • Provides excellent customer service as evidenced by a willingness and ability to assist customers with their questions/concerns, treating customers in a friendly and helpful manner, and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Answers customer’s questions by accurately navigating the Pharmacy computer system.
  • Processes prescription sales using the POS system with accuracy.
  • Answers phone calls and problem solves calls effectively.
  • Address customer’s basic questions regarding wait times and medication in-stock position.
  • Accurately operates and maintains a cash drawer via POS system and performs timely end of day register close out reconciliation tasks.
  • Maintains the waiting prescription bins daily.
  • Upholds the patient’s rights including privacy and confidentiality.
  • Accurately prepares and coordinates medications for shipment following Standard Operating Protocols for courier services, USPS and FedEx services.
  • Organizes and maintains a clean and tidy waiting area.
  • Accurately enters prescriptions and processes insurance claims as directed by technicians and/or pharmacists.
  • Adheres to the Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Must be a fast learner who can adapt to changing work demands.
  • Must have attention to details in all aspects of pharmacy processes in order to minimize medication errors.
  • Must be able to learn how to navigate a Pharmacy computer program with accuracy and efficiency to perform job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must adhere to the Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures to perform job duties and responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish constructive professional working relationships among a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrates exemplary customer service skills.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and independently as needed.
  • Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner.
  • Ability to multi-tasks and demonstrates flexibility in day-to-day duties.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively represent ODCHC’s interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups.
  • Strong computer skills with specific aptitude in Microsoft Office Suite, Point of Sales system, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) as needed.
  • Proficiency in multi-line telephone system.
  • Adheres to ODCHC’s policies and procedures.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One years of experience in a customer service role in a pharmacy preferred or other healthcare setting will be considered.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

 

SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT: The Pharmacy Clerk reports directly to the Pharmacist-In-Charge and is an integral member of the Pharmacy.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is largely an office-based position. The physical requirements described are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.   • Ability to communicate via telephone, video, and/or in-person.
  • Vision adequate to read documents, computer screens, forms.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use keyboard and view computer screens for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel locally and long-distance as needed.
  • Ability to move around offices and clinics as needed.

 

 

Wage Range Hiring Range $18.14 to $22.20
