Completes necessary referral forms and processes specimens collected in the clinic for submission to reference lab for testing, including appropriate storage of the specimens until pick-up.

Processes and examines microscopic urinalyses, wet-mount slide preparations and stains.

Keeps accurate, complete and appropriate records of all specimens handled in the lab.

Logs and distributes incoming reports.
-
Performs quality control testing at specified intervals.

Performs general housekeeping.
-
Attends general staff meetings and additional meetings as specified by Lab Director.

Performs in-house tests.
-
Correctly bills various payers.
-
Maintains inventory and orders supplies.
-
Instructs patients for collection of stool or urine.
-
Participation in split sample analysis.
-
Completion of quizzes and/or skills check lists to document competency.
-
Saturday lab rotation
-
Adherence to ODCHC’s attendance policy.

Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Trained in venipuncture and fingerstick procedures.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret moderately complex documents.

Computer skills, including facility with databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma and/or GED.
-
Three to six months experience as a laboratory assistant or medical assistant preferred but not required.

Speaking and hearing sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person, at normal volumes.
