ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These essential responsibilities are performed within the context of collaboration among the Corporate Services team as well accommodation of diverse operational needs of clinic and office locations.
- Identifies facility deficits and reports such to supervisory staff for assignment and scheduling;
- Works on tasks at all ODCHC sites as assigned and scheduled;
- Maintains interior and exterior spaces, including basic maintenance, refuse pick-up and disposal, furniture repair and replacement, and décor and equipment installation;
- Makes structural and cosmetic repairs to masonry, woodwork and furnishings;
- Repairs and paints interior and exterior of facilities;
- Makes minor plumbing repairs, including removing clogs and fixing leaks;
- Performs janitorial duties as assigned, including cleaning, mopping and polishing concrete, tile and vinyl flooring and shampooing carpet;
- Builds and installs shelving, bulletin boards, and other utility items; rearranges furniture and equipment; gets items from or places item in storage facilities;
- Maintains recycling areas and recyclable materials to recycling stations;
- Goes to appropriate stores to purchase basic maintenance and project supplies;
- Adherence to ODCHC policies and protocols; and,
- Related duties as identified, assigned and required by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess experience and skills spanning a variety areas:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish supportive working relationships among a diverse workforce;
- Ability to follow instructions given verbally or in writing, including product use and assembly instructions and technical procedures;
- Ability to write routine reports;
- High School Diploma or GED required;
- One to three years of experience in building maintenance or related trade;
- Experience with basic plumbing, carpentry and grounds upkeep; and,
- An insurable driving record and California Driver’s License as well as the ability to drive to distant clinics and other ODCHC facilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance Specialist I has no supervisory responsibility.
SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT: The Maintenance Specialist I works independently at times and with other Maintenance Specialists, managers of the Corporate Services department, and with outside vendors depending on the size and complexity of the task in a collaborative manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is largely an active, physical and out-of-the-office position. The physical requirements described are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. - Speaking and hearing sufficient to communicate effectively by telephone or in-person at normal volumes;
- Vision adequate to read documents, computer screens, forms and designs and to differentiate colors as necessary;
- Good manual dexterity;
- Ability to lift and carry packages and boxes weighing up to 50 pounds;
- Ability to use assistive devices (dollies, handcarts) and to request assistance when moving heavy, awkward or fragile objects;
- Ability to reach above shoulder level and to squat, bend, sit, stand, climb and stand on ladders, and negotiate stairs;
- Ability to engage in repetitive motion; and,
- Ability to move around the interiors and exteriors of facilities as needed.
