Open Door supports more computers than it has employees; we are a computer dependent operation. We have a comprehensive network being used by all levels of employees with all levels of computer proficiency. The Desktop Support Technician works in the Information Technology department as part of a team to help solve an array of user, software, hardware and network issues. The work load and demand is constant and the Desktop Support Technician needs to be efficient, energetic and possess the ability to multi-task. The Desktop Support Technician works to resolve both individual and system problems, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, user knowledge and performing system upgrades. The position requires a detail oriented individual who is able to identify and set priorities, provide immediate support for problems and collaborate within the IT department. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to get along with a diverse range of people is a must. Open Door is a PC-based operation using Dell and related equipment. Prior PC and network experience required. Knowledge of multi-site networks, a wide area of network systems and software applications required. Experience preferred.

Position Requirements


  • Receives IT requests from the Desktop Technician, and prioritizes and provides immediate support for straightforward problems.

  • Troubleshoots hardware and software issues, and performs software and hardware upgrades.

  • Performs hardware installation and installs PC’s, monitors, printers and PDAs.



  • Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to establish constructive working relationships with all levels of employees in a staff of varied and diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and vendors, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex instructions, manuals and information both written and oral.

  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment within established guidelines.

  • Ability to direct, teach, and demonstrate to others the functions of their equipment.

  • Skill in planning, organizing, reviewing, evaluating, and directing the work of other staff.

  • Ability to write memos, correspondence, policies and reports.

  • Adherence to ODCHC’s attendance policy.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor.



  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Knowledge of or experience with wide area network systems required.

  • Knowledge of or experience with network administration for multi-site networks required.

  • Knowledge of and experience with a wide variety of software applications, and ability to master new applications.

  • Experience in developing and implementing programs and protocols.






  • Speaking and hearing sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person, at normal volumes or above normal volumes.

  • Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Ability to reach above shoulder-level and frequently reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to climb, balance, and negotiate stairs.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.

  • Must posses a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
