POSITION LOCATION: LIMA RD, FORT WAYNE, IN

POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources (HR) Benefits Coordinator is responsible for coordinating HR initiatives in the support of strategic business goals as it relates to benefits provided by the company. The goal of this position is to manage communication and relationships with employees and strategize benefit opportunities that will enhance the overall employee relationship.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Sr. Benefits Coordinator with various employee benefits programs, including group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), FMLA, wellness and any other benefits.
  • Coordinates benefit orientations and self-enrollment system.
  • Coordinates communication strategy that keeps employees informed of the benefit opportunities and changes that are continually occurring with benefits within the organization.
  • Maintains accuracy with reporting and regulatory expectations as it relates to benefit administration.
  • Maintains employee personnel and benefits filing systems and ensures benefit changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Assists employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims, questions, or enrollment guidance.
  • Assists HR Director in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company and employees.
  • Manages employee/company information as it relates to benefit programs.
  • Assists HR Director in completing benefits reporting requirements.
  • Assumes other duties and/or projects as assigned by the HR Director.
 

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or business field is preferred, or one or more years in HR or related experience.
  • HR Generalist knowledge preferred.

 

COMPETENCIES:

 

  • Maintains compliance with the organization’s confidentiality policy.
  • Monitors MWEC processes to ensure compliance with the organization’s policies and with the guidelines set by relevant regulatory agencies.
  • Develops, implements, maintains and evaluates quality control studies in an effort to improve services Midwest Eye Consultants provides to others.
  • Comfortable working with a variety of people and able to meet deadlines.
  • Possess an array of general office skills, such as typing, data entry and handling mail.
  • Awareness of MWEC’s mission and have an understanding of basic filing procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of all benefit plans, payroll and HRIS software, 401K plan.
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional maturity, appearance and demeanor required, and ability to work with multiple departments.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Physical Activity: Talking, Hearing, Repetitive motion.
  • Physical Requirements: Sedentary work. Involves sitting most of the time.
  • The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
