SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse Clinic Manager (RNCM) functions as site leadership at Open Door Community Health Centers (ODCHC) by overseeing the daily patient flow and overall clinical components of the health center. The RNCM acts as the clinical and administrative supervisor for Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs), and Medical Assistants (MAs). The supervision responsibilities include: recruitment, performance management, training and development, and clinical oversight. This position is responsible for patient access and throughput in the clinic, including timely triage, rooming patients, and patient follow up. The RNCM is expected to function as a resource for the triage RN as clinic need arises. The RNCM works in conjunction with the medical providers and site leadership to assure the highest quality care is provided to all patients regardless of financial, geographic, or social barriers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screens and interviews candidates for open RN, LVN, and MA positions within the clinic.
  • Coordinates with the Site Administrator and other clinic leadership in hiring, coaching, and training of clinical staff.
  • Responsible for creating a balanced staffing schedule.
  • Evaluates and conducts periodic reviews of all RNs, LVNs, and MAs at the site within designated time frames aligned with ODCHC policies.
  • Mediates and resolves issues with staff and patients as needed.
  • Responsible for communication to the clinical team regarding updated organizational workflows and relevant best practices, including daily huddles and monthly staff meetings.
  • Provides in-service training and mentoring to employees whom they supervise.
  • Conducts monthly scheduled site Nursing and Medical Assistant meetings and provides documentation of such meetings to Nursing Leadership.
  • Attends Operations, Quality Improvement, Site Management, and other meetings as required.
  • Supports timely scheduling of patient appointments and patient triage when necessary.
  • Coordinates inter-clinic patient transfer requests.
  • Responsible for assuring the medication room is in compliance with state and federal guidelines and regulations. Oversees cleanliness and safety of exam rooms.
  • Assists providers with patient care as an RN within clinical setting as needed and within BRN regulations.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of new and ongoing clinical programs and services assuring appropriate resources for the delivery of care.
  • Actively participates in ODCHC’s Quality Improvement activities and coordinates follow-up on areas requiring attention.
  • Implements workflows to optimize patient flow and coordination of care within and between health care facilities.
  • Collaborates with Site Administrator, Site Medical Director, and other ODCHC leadership concerning clinical issues, concerns, and/or problems as they arise.
  • Performs related work and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and technical procedures.
  • Advanced written communication skills and ability to produce routine reports and internal email correspondences.
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and training skills.
  • Willingness to positively represent ODCHC’s interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among coworkers, public, private, and professional partners.
  • Adheres to ODCHC policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates, Bachelors, or Master’s Degree in Nursing or a combination thereof
  • Two to four years of supervisory experience in a medical facility preferred
  • Ability to complete all annually required competencies as outlined by ODCHC

CERTIFICATIONS and LICENSES:

  • Current/Active Registered Nurse License in the state of California
  • CPR BLS Certification

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The RNCM is responsible for clinical and administrative supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Vocation Nurses (LVNs), and Medical Assistants (MAs) within the clinic. Supervision requirements include training and development, annual evaluation, performance improvement, and documenting and communicating disciplinary action.

SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT: The RNCM is supervised administratively by the Administrative Site Director and clinically by the Director of Clinical Services.

Hiring Range $94,131 to $109,838.06
