ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES:
Medical Records Management:
- Prepares patient chart by gathering and inserting relevant information from EHR or other sources, and routes to the appropriate personnel. Ensures chart is completed accurately and timely.
- Responds to internal and external requests for patient records, including retrieval and transmission of requested documents, and verification of receipt.
- Sustains quality results by following clinic standards.
- Maintains effective communication with others, both inside and outside of the department, to give or obtain needed information.
- Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient record information confidential, per HIPAA standards.
Document Control:
- Reviews medical records for accuracy and completeness, assembles records into standard order, creates digital image, and stores in designated areas according to data storage procedures.
- Coordinates ASC document retrieval from offsite chart storage facility as requested.
- Enhances medical records and clinic reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing essential responsibilities; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous medical office experience is preferred.
COMPETENCIES:
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of basic ophthalmic medical terminology.
- Recognition of the ophthalmic exam process to accurately identify chart completeness.
- Dependable and self-motivated.
- Proactive, adaptable, with the ability to work under pressure to accomplish projects and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical Activity: Talking, Hearing, Repetitive motion.
- Physical requirements: Sedentary work. Involves sitting most of the time.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
