   <description>&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Assistant Security Manager&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Bargaining Unit:&amp;nbsp; Non-Union&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Posting Period:&amp;nbsp; Applications will be accepted until a sutiable candidate is selected.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Salary:&amp;nbsp; $41,300&amp;nbsp;- $53,500&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;No person shall be subject to discrimination in employment, in any program or activity of the Detroit Public Library.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration: underline;"&gt;Position Summary&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Under the direction of the Security Manager, is responsible for assisting in the overall administration and supervision of the day-to-day security services at the Main Library.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration: underline;"&gt;Reporting Relationship&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This position reports to the Security Manager.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration: underline;"&gt;Essential Functions&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Monitor DPL facilities (using CCTV and other monitoring devices) to ensure security of staff and customers&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Identify and recommend procedures and methods to prevent property loss and/or damage&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Maintain identification badges database&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Issue identification badges&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in supervision of security officers staff &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in scheduling of&amp;nbsp; security staff&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in creating an environment for security staff to deliver superior customer service&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in building and encouraging a team oriented environment &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in training security staff with the use of equipment, new technologies and work procedures &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in work performance evaluations, recommendations, and performance coaching &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Participate in recruitment, selection and interviews of potential security staff&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in collecting and maintaining data necessary for&amp;nbsp; grant applications, annual reports, surveys and budget requisitions&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in evaluating the library&amp;rsquo;s security function through goal development, plan execution, policy and procedure guidelines, and ongoing recommendation modifications to ensure a seamless flow in security administration &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Maintain an awareness that foster relationships with individuals, groups and organizations in the community as they relate to the security of the library as a whole&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Serves on DPL committees, participate in professional organizations, and maintain awareness of current trends&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Represent DPL at professional, governmental, and community meetings&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Attend meetings of DPL&amp;rsquo;s Security Task Force and provides information as requested&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in providing a monthly report of overall security operations to the Chief Administrative Officer&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Assist in assuring that work areas, building and grounds are properly and safely maintained&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;Perform duties</description>
