Trade Spend Manager (IL, Lombard)

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for managing the trade payment process and trade payment systems for Custom Culinary®. The Trade Spend Analyst is also responsible for developing pricing analysis that will be used to support achieving targeted profitability levels. Creating business analysis that brings together Sales and Trade Spending data is also key function of this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Trade Spend Management:

Become the go-to person for trade payments – setting policies and procedures while managing the trade payment process (for deductions and check requests) in Blacksmith and ASK to ensure timely processing of deductions. This may include some data entry in Blacksmith and ASK to clear deductions.
Ensure budgeted deduction balances and aging profiles are achieved on a monthly basis throughout the year.
Identify changes in customer deduction behaviors that pose a risk to our overall budget and the effectiveness of our trade spending. Develop policies and action steps to address these risks.
Provide weekly reporting and analysis of deduction balances. Identify and resolve customer deduction issues.
Prepare and submit batch files for A/R to utilize in updating A/R balances. Review processed batches to ensure all items were cleared as needed.
Streamline processes between A/R and the Finance team in Lombard.
Lead the development, implementation, and documentation of improvements in trade payment processing procedures. Identify opportunities to leverage system capabilities.
Lead the development, implementation, and documentation of a process for identifying and recovering invalid deductions taken by customers. Work proactively with Sales and customers to ensure problems are resolved before becoming fiscally significant.
Measure and report on Forge compliance. Develop and implement a plan to drive Forge compliance to required levels across the Sales team.
Supervise Deduction Analysts. Develop and track performance measures. Prioritize work in order to achieve departmental and business goals. Develop individual performance goals and measures. Perform mid-year and year-end reviews. Provide training and coaching throughout the year.
Develop and implement procedures to audit the transactions executed by the deduction analysts to ensure proper documentation and adherence to established procedures. Utilize the outcome of the audits to develop training materials or policy changes as necessary.
Enhance existing business process documentation for Trade Payments.
