Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. Position Summary

The Assistant Theater Manager/Technical Director assists in the daily responsibility for the operations of the Sister Caroline Collins Theater. This includes technical support of productions as well as instruction and supervision of student tech crews. The position also provides technical support for events on campus, (not in theater).

Essential Duties, Roles and Responsibilities:
Mission

  • Invest in the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers through active mission and Catholic formation.

  • Model for students the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic educator;

  • Promote SHC's mission, philosophy and Integral Student Outcomes;

  • Support the co-curricular programs of the school community.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • Assists Head Theater Manager/Technical Director with all SHC productions including:

    • Builds sets and stage construction for all productions

    • Attends rehearsals and assists Directors with show production.

    • Attends productions and assists with shows where needed.

    • Maintains lighting and sound equipment under the direction of the Technical Director

    • Assists with the training and supervision of student crew in set construction, lighting and sound

    • Maintains shop storage for stage, sound and lighting inventory

    • Assists with rental supervision

  • Sets up presentations in Collins Theater and Chorus room space

  • Works with Faculty and staff to use the theater facilities.

  • Assists with Livestream production in Chorus Room studio

  • Updates media for inner and outer lobbies

  • Campus-wide duties:

    • Manages and maintains production equipment in Pavilion

    • Assists with sound and AV for events held in Pavilion

    • Maintains portable PA equipment for Student Life and Walkathon

    • Facilitates PA and sound for Lessons and Carols and Walkathon

    • Manages Freshman video project

    • Films and edits small teacher projects, or assists in setup of these projects.

Position Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with:

    • Professional Lighting systems (ETC focused)

    • Hanging and focusing traditional lights and programming DMX lighting

    • Softwares: Qlab, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Illustrator.

    • Sound editing software, Audacity, Pro Tools, Audition

    • Sound Board Operation, particularly the Allen & Heath SQ Series, familiarity with Dante card connectivity

    • Microphones, recording equipment and software

    • AV systems and live streaming softwares (OBS, ZOOM, ATEM switching boards)

    • Google suite with focus on Google slides, but familiarity with Powerpoint

    • Macintosh Operating software and networking in regards to theater connectivity

    • Stagecraft and shop tools

  • Able to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders

Desired Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience;

  • Experience working with high school students

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master's Degree preferred

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google Suite; databases (such as a learning management system) and internet usage.
