Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) 

Description

Wyandot Behavioral Health Network is seeking a dedicated Substance Use Disorder Specialist to join our team. This position will provide individual and group substance use disorder treatment with adults. Provide initial follow up with clients and staff to ensure customer satisfaction.

Accountabilities:

  • Will provide substance use interventions to clients using both individual and group modalities.
  • Will help orient clients to the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program.
  • Will provide care coordination in office and in the community to clients who are engaged in the MAT program.
  • Will provide Level I outpatient treatment services.
  • Will provide liaison services for clients to enter Residential/Intermediate Treatment when appropriate.
  • Will work with clients to develop a person-centered treatment plan for care.
  • Will provide aftercare and/or reintegration services treatment for clients, as needed (or liaison to appropriate program.)
  • Will maintain appropriate clinical documentation on all clients served and complete documentation with the organization’s expectation for timeliness.
  • Will create substance use related educational and resource materials for clients as needed
  • Will keep current on Best Practices and emerging best practices in the substance use disorder field.
  • Will participate in task forces or committees to attempt problem solving regarding substance use issues.
  • Identifies strengths and needs of client/consumer and families and acts to involve them in planning for desired services.
  • Will contribute to a positive culture where clients feel safe, welcome and free from judgment.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in addiction’s counseling or related field with appropriate coursework to be eligible for licensure as a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC). 
  • Must be licensed as a LAC in the state of Kansas.

Experience:

  • Prior experience providing effective, efficient therapeutic services to adults with severe mental illness preferred
  • Familiarity with behavioral health theory, emerging practices and Evidence-Based Practices in the substance use disorder field
  • Prior experience with MAT programs

Skills & Abilities:         

  • Knowledge of trends and issues, laws and regulations related to the development and delivery of therapeutic services helpful.
  • Ability to establish relationships with clients and treatment teams.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.  The ability to manage multiple priorities under changing circumstances and timeframes.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Communicates directly and effectively in a cooperative manner with colleagues and representatives of other agencies.
  • Familiar with mental health and substance use disorder theory and practice.
  • Familiar with treatment approaches to treatment substance use disorders with an emphasis on co-occurring disorders
  • Organizational skills to assist in managing a caseload, keeping up with progress notes and treatment plans.
  • Screening Solutions and Medicaid/Medicare Reimbursable inquires.
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Clearance through the Kansas Child Abuse/Neglect Register, criminal background check, reference verification, and all other screening and employment processes.                 

Location/Travel/Work Conditions and Considerations:

Based at a central office, light travel is required to other locations, businesses, and community sites to meet organizational needs.  Workday regularly includes multiple and/or conflicting demands.
