Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. We provide academically rigorous, vibrant learning grounded in social justice and student centered pedagogy. Our entire community is committed to cultivating each student's unique talents and passions, providing myriad opportunities for students to discern and realize their individual intellectual, artistic, athletic, social, and spiritual potential. SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Campus Ministry for Service, under the direction of the Director of Campus Ministry and the Assistant Principal for Student Life, coordinates service and immersion opportunities for the school community that support both individual and community spiritual growth and exploration of social justice. This individual coordinates and facilitates student retreats and shares this responsibility with the Director of Campus Ministry. The Associate Director, in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Team, coordinates and promotes opportunities that develop, support and nurture the faith lives of the SHC community, and animate the mission of the school, the charisms of its founders, and the mission of the Catholic church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Mission:

  • Invest in the mission of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers through active Catholic mission formation.

Immersions

  • Coordinates service immersion Venaver programs, which occur during the academic school year and summer. This includes connecting with on-site communities and partners, recruiting student attendees and faculty chaperones, and coordinating meaningful activities that both raise awareness and build solidarity among participants and with on-site communities and partners. Immersion locations are offered locally, domestically and internationally.

Service Learning

  • Oversees all 4 class levels of Service Learning projects in collaboration with each grade level's faculty coordinators

Service Opportunities

  • Works with school and student groups to create and facilitate service opportunities. This includes the Parents Association, faculty & staff, athletic teams, clubs and LaSallian-Vincentian Youth.

  • Coordinates and leads semi-annual Blood Drive in collaboration with the Sports Medicine Club

  • Oversees annual Season of Giving during the holiday season in support of beneficiary partners

Retreats

  • Coordinates and facilitates Frosh and Sophomore retreats in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Team and other teaching faculty

  • Supports the facilitation and coordination of Junior and Kairos retreats in collaboration with the Director of Campus Ministry

Other

  • Collaborates with other Campus Ministry Team members to advance the mission of the school

  • Attends all Campus Ministry Team meetings

  • Assists the Director of Campus Ministry with other duties as assigned

 
Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • A practicing Roman Catholic who will embrace, embody, and promote the Lasallian Vincentian Catholic mission of SHC.

  • Experience working with high school students;

  • Experience in a Catholic high school setting.

  • Undergraduate degree;

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently to facilitate faith formation;

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a campus minister;

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in theology or related subject;

  • Administrative and managerial experience

  • Experience overseeing a service program and a student retreat program, including Kairos

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google Suite; databases (such as a learning management system) and internet usage.
